It’s my Parting Shot for my Weekend Short Shots…

For the first time since the Canadian Team Ranking System for curling was instituted, the top eight teams are in the championship round of the Tim Horton’s Brier. Before you say, why not do away with the 16-team field and just go with the top eight from the C-T-R-S, I say we wait on that until we see the top eight make the championship round for at least three straight Briers before we make another format change!

It’s March…and I asked myself, when does March Madness start? Of course, the answers are readily available through a Google search and I was shocked to see that it’s March 17th. Those are the “play-in” games to get to 64 teams. The final won’t happen until April 6th! Shouldn’t March Madness end in March?!

Apparently, the C-B-C and its auxilliary channels are carrying Canadian U Sports championship games. I say apparently because I don’t know what the C-B-C auxilliary channels are or where to find them. I doubt I have them on my cable T-V package and I’m not hooking up my lap-top to my 43-inch screen to find and watch it on-line. I know that makes me old, but I still find that the sports programming that draws numbers are the ones that are on main-stream television…although I’m not so sure poker qualifies!

Truth be told, the only time I watch C-B-C is wen Coronation Street is on…my wife loves it, along with a trio of American soaps! Happy wife, happy life!!
