International Women’s Day is coming up on Sunday and SaskMusic has organized concerts featuring 30 artists featuring female singer/songwriters in 7 communities in honour of the day.
Six concerts featuring a number of performers at each are Saturday night and another on Sunday night.
SaskMusic spokesperson, Lorena Kelly, says the proceeds from each event will go to a local charity with a women’s focus.
Saskatoon’s event is Saturday night at the Refinery with proceeds going to the Sexual Assault and Information Centre.
Along with Saskatoon, there are multi-genre concerts in Regina, Lemberg, Yorkton, Estevan, Prince Albert and Forget.
Kelly says these concerts are going on across the country through FACTOR but she expects Saskatchewan has more International Women’s Day concerts than any other.
