Saskatoon and region continues to show growth in the residential real estate market. The Saskatchewan Realtors’ Association says sales of 230 in the city in February were up nine per cent from the same month a year ago. Sales in the region were up 11 per cent for the same period. Sales were above the five year average but below the 10 year average. Year-to-date sales were up nine percent over last year in Saskatoon and 8.6 per cent in the full region.
New listings decreased 2.7 per cent in the city and 3.2 per cent in the region. Homes were on the market for an average of 73.7 days in the city and 82.9 days in the region. The average home price in Saskatoon was $320,249, down 5.3 per cent. For the region the average price was $297,724, down 3.2 per cent. CEO Jason Yochim says they see the trend of increased sales and decreased listings continuing in both the city and the region. If that happens, he anticipates prices increasing.
