The Prince Albert Airport has launched their Airport Wildlife Management Plan.
The plan is a seasonal initiative that promotes aviation safety by reducing wildlife hazards to aircraft. Birds in particular can pose a serious risk to aircraft.
The airport will be using pyrotechnics to deter birds and other wildlife. They include shell crackers, flares, firecrackers, and rockets. The loud noises and bright lights are effective in keeping away wildlife.
The program is part of the airport’s commitment to maintaining a safe environment for passengers, pilots, and ground crews.
