With the Easter weekend celebrations in full swing, SGI reminds people find a safe ride home.
SGI Media Relations Manager Heather Hubic says that a safe ride home should always be part of any plan that involves drinking or drugs.
“Just always call someone and arrange that ride in advance to make sure that you have a safe ride home if you plan on going out and indulging in impairing substances.”
She adds that there are lots of options available for people looking for a way to get home safely.
“We want to remind people that they should consider all options, which maybe includes taking a taxi, a bus, opting for a designated driver service or maybe a ride share. If those options aren’t available to you, maybe you’ve arranged a friend who’s sober to drive you home or you stay the night at a trusted friend’s or family’s place.”
According to SGI, around 37 people in Saskatchewan are killed as the result of impaired-driving collisions each year.
