In an effort to generate over $3.4 million in order to balance the City’s budget, Prince Albert City Council will be reviewing options at its upcoming meeting that may involve the property tax.
On Monday, councilors will hear several cost recouping options such as a 2.03 per cent increase in the general municipal levy and a net $12 base/special tax increase for residential properties for fire, policing, snow, and roadway operations.
A release from the City says the highest expense drivers this year were Lake Country Co-op Leisure Centre operations, a Prince Albert Police Service funding increase, 6th Avenue Viaduct Bridge Rehabilitation, and most expensive of all, $2.51 million in salaries, wages, and benefits across City departments.
If approved on Monday, Tax Notices will be printed and mailed during the last week of May. Property taxes will be due on June 30, 2026.
