The United Way of Saskatoon and Area celebrated this week after recording donations of 3.8 Million dollars in 2019.
The United Way does year round fundraising for community investments that focus on kids and families in and around the city and celebrated it’s 60th anniversary last year.
CEO Sheri Benson says they were really pleased with the total especially with the challenges of last year. “We feel like we’ve stabilized our revenue, we’ll be able to invest more in the community. We’re feeling really good, really confident, like we’re on an upward trend for those investments. So that’s a good indication that people want to support, help people and be there when the community needs it.” 2019 also saw multiple Saskatchewan based corporations hitting multi-million dollar marks in donation totals.
According to Benson, next up for the United Way will be recruitment and finalizing plans for outreach to businesses, employee groups and unions. Specifically looking to find out what people think the needs of the community will be going forward.
