A report heading to the City’s Planning, Development and Community Services committee states the urgent need for a new fire training facility.
The report from Assistant Fire Chief Anthony Tataryn says the Saskatoon Fire Department is seeking post-budget from the City of Saskatoon for the first phase of the project.
Tataryn adds that the need for a training facility has become more urgent due to the increased complexity of required firefighter skills, regulatory frameworks and that the city continues to grow.
Phase 1 includes finding a location and acquiring the land in addition to servicing and prepping the site.
The second and third phase are expected to be included in a report schedule to make its way to council chambers later this year.
The report will be reviewed Monday at 9 o’clock at City Hall.
