As of Thursday, Saskatchewan’s teachers will be cutting back their services in schools. They will provide service no more than 15 minutes prior to the start of the school day and not more than 15 minutes at the end of the day. They will continue to provide student supervision at recess, lunch, and bus supervision within the time frame specified; but, they will not provide any voluntary or extracurricular services. The sanctions come as the Teachers’ Bargaining Committee continues to try and hammer out an agreement with the Government-Trustee Bargaining Committee. The sticking point is the complexity and composition of classrooms. The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation wants that included in the bargaining and the government says no.
