Carrot river RCMP say one man has been arrested and charged in connection to a firearm incident on Shoal Lake Cree Nation.
RCMP received a report of an individual pointing a firearm at people outside a home on the First Nation around 9:20 p.m. Monday.
No injuries were reported to police but when officers arrived, they determined that the suspect had gone into the home.
A search warrant was executed with assistance from Nipawin and the RCMP Critical Incident Response Team. Officers located and arrested an adult male and seized a firearm.
Twenty-four-year-old Mikey Bear of Shoal Lake Cree Nation is facing nine charges, the majority of which are weapons related. Bear has also been charged with uttering threats against a person.
Mikey Bear is in Melfort Provincial Court June 3rd charged with:
– one count, unsafe storage of a firearm, Section 86(2), Criminal Code;
– one count, possession of a prohibited weapon when knowing possession was unauthorized, Section 92(2), Criminal Code;
– one count, possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to order, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code;
– one count, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, Section 85(1)(a), Criminal Code;
– one count, uttering threats against a person, Section 264.1(1)(a), Criminal Code;
– one count, assault with a weapon, Section 267(a), Criminal Code; and
– three counts, failure to comply with a release order, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code.
