The severe weather was back for another round in southeast Saskatchewan and southern Manitoba last night. The Oxbow area was hit by a tornado with numerous photos and videos posted and one site indicated at least one farm suffered severe damage. Some locations in southeast Saskatchewan have had three storm warnings over the past four days.
Environment Canada has issued a statement saying that devastating thunderstorms – some with tornadoes – affected parts of southeastern Saskatchewan on Tuesday. ECCC says while it will be some time before the full extent of the damage is known they do – unofficially – confirm the tornado in the North Portal/Oxbow/Alameda area of Saskatchewan with reports of damage.
Environment Canada says there was heavy rain and golf ball sized hail reported in Regina along with localized flooding. Images shared on social media show trees shredded of leaves and hail coming down so hard it plugged a downspout which was shooting rainwater straight into the air.
As well, Weyburn and Indian Head both reported about 30 mm of rain. Wind gusts around 85 km/h were reported in Estevan and Yorkton.
