La Ronge RCMP have issued an arrest warrant for Sampson Roberts (pictured) in relation to a shooting incident Thursday in La Ronge.
According to a Saskatchewan RCMP news release, the La Ronge detachment received a report of a shooting on Bird Place at about 2:45 p.m. Thursday. Their investigation determined that two men got into an altercation outside a residence with one of the them discharging a firearm, injuring the other man. The armed man, determined to be 25-year-old Sampson Roberts of La Ronge, left in a car he took from the scene with La Ronge RCMP locating and recovering the vehicle on Friday morning, but no sign of the suspect. La Ronge RCMP are asking members of the public to report sightings and information as to his whereabouts. Roberts is described as being 5-feet-7 inches tall, weighing 145 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He faces five charges – one count each of discharge firearm with intent, robbery with firearm, operation while prohibited and possession of a firearm while knowing possession unauthorized – plus two counts of weapons possession contrary to order. The male shooting victim was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The public is warned not to approach Sampson Roberts if you see him, but to report all sightings and information as to his whereabouts to 310-RCMP or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
