There is a special weather statement in effect for parts of west central Saskatchewan from the Alberta border east to North Battleford including Meadow Lake, Unity and Wilkie with conditions favourable for the development of funnel clouds today. Environment Canada says these types of funnel clouds are generated by weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms and do not usually cause significant damage but can still be dangerous.

Further south again extending from the Alberta border encompassing southwest Saskatchewan including Kindersley, Rosetown, Lucky Lake, across to Old Wives Lake (Gravelbourg, Assiniboia, Mossbank) and south to the international border there are severe thunderstorm watches in effect where hail, 100 km/h wind gusts and locally heavy downpours are possible. Environment Canada says a tornado or two also cannot be ruled out.
