The Saskatoon Public Schools Board of Education has officially approved the name Holmwood Collegiate for the division’s new secondary school in Saskatoon’s northeast.
The name was approved at the board’s final meeting of the 2025-26 school year Tuesday evening.
The provincial government announced funding for the new school in March 2024. Holmwood Collegiate will be located in the Holmwood area, adjacent to the Brighton neighbourhood, and will share a site with a new Catholic high school. A future City of Saskatoon leisure centre is also planned nearby.
The project is currently in the design phase. Construction is expected to begin next year, with the school welcoming its first students in approximately four to five years.
From May 1-19, Saskatoon Public Schools gathered feedback through a public survey and engagement activities involving Grades 4, 5, and 6 students from feeder schools-many of whom are expected to attend Holmwood Collegiate when it opens.
