Peter Stoicheff, President of the University of Saskatchewan says, the university is operating as usual amidst the COVID-19 situation. He says a cross-campus working group has been meeting regularly since January to review the university’s emergency management plan as well as protocols and procedures should they be needed. Stoicheff says, should operations need to change, they will do so with as little disruptions to the students as possible. He say they are considering remote and online learning methods and other teaching strategies that would not require in-person classrooms. They are also looking at options that enable employees to work from home if necessary.
The university has implemented a number of decisions related to travel. These changes will apply to all faculty and staff requests to travel applications.
The university will not allow students to travel for university-related activities to: China, Hong Kong, Japan, Italy, South Korea, and Iran.
If students and staff have arrived from China, Iran or northern Italy in the past 14 days, or have been in close contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 by laboratory testing, the university asks that they self-isolate for 14 days and monitor themselves daily for symptoms such as fever, cough and difficulty breathing.
