Several Saskatoon parks, playgrounds, and drainage systems will be enhanced through the City’s Park Upgrade Program.
This program provides funding towards upgrades such as new or improved pathways, lighting, upgraded irrigation and drainage systems, tree planting and naturalized landscaping, as well as other amenities such as benches, picnic tables and play structures.
Parks scheduled for upgrades this year are Forest Grove Linkage and Ernest Lindner Park.
Playgrounds scheduled for upgrades include Szumagalski Park, Lt GG Simmonds Park, and Idylwyld Park.
Several parks are also slated to receive drainage upgrades. These include Parc Canada Park, John Duerkop Park, Rouillard Park, Swick Park, Klombies Park, Hyde Park, Varley Park, Wallace Park, Draggins Car Club Park.
These projects mean portions of certain parks will be closed temporarily during construction.
Funding for these projects comes mainly from the Government of Canada, through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and Natural Infrastructure funds.
