Four people have been arrested after a suspicious vehicle stop near the Patience Lake mine led to the seizure of a sawed-off shotgun and several firearms charges.

Corman Park Police Service and Saskatoon RCMP responded Saturday afternoon around 1:20 p.m. to a report of a suspicious vehicle near Highway 5, where officers determined the driver was impaired by a drug following a roadside sobriety test.

A search of the vehicle uncovered a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun, and in a news release police say a 50-year-old man later claimed ownership of the firearm; police say he was already prohibited from possessing any firearms and has been remanded into custody.

The driver’s licence was suspended and the vehicle was impounded.
