Medavie Health Services say they are prepared for COVID-19 and paramedics are equipped to handle any calls where the symptoms are similar to the novel coronavirus.
Spokesperson Troy Davies says the planning began in January because they knew it would be only a matter of time.
The paramedics were all fitted individually with special masks that have to fit their face so there aren’t any leaks.
Davies adds that the information on the virus is continually being updated so they are in close contact with the Saskatchewan Health Authority, because things can change by the hour.
The symptoms of the virus are fever and respiratory symptoms such as coughing or shortness of breath.
Call the Health Line at 811 if you have these symptoms.
Davies suggests the best advice for the public is to go to the province’s website for the latest information and guidance.
