More than 5,000 Saskatchewan households are receiving increased financial support through the Saskatchewan Housing Benefit following changes that took effect July 1.

The provincial government said $3.2 million was included in the 2026-27 budget to increase monthly benefits for people leaving situations of interpersonal violence, those living in supportive housing and households with low to moderate incomes.

The largest increase applies to the Seeking Safety from Interpersonal Violence Stream, where monthly benefits have doubled.

Singles receive $450 per month, households with one dependent receive $550, and households with two or more dependents receive $650.

Monthly benefits through the Supportive Housing Stream have increased by 40 per cent.
