Officials with the Saskatoon Farmer’s Market says they are going to proceed with caution and follow the advice of Saskatchewan Public Health when opening the market this weekend. They also say if public health advises them to close, they will. Anyone who is sick is asked not to go to the market. As well they are seeking donations of hand sanitizer having been unable to buy it from stores or obtain it from other suppliers via the usual channels. Saskatchewan Public Health issued an advisory on Friday that there be no public gathering of more than 250 people in the province.
From the Saskatoon Farmer’s Market Facebook page:
-In addition to our regular high standard of cleaning, we will be increasing our cleaning regimen during market to reduce potential presence of pathogens on surfaces.
-Facility for hand washing is available for the public and for vendors. Although we have not been lucky in sourcing hand sanitizer yet, we do have plenty of soap and water.
-No samples will be provided by vendors.
-We are self-limiting to a maximum capacity of 200 people on site. For your information, peak timing at market tends to be from 10 am to 1 pm. Consider coming before 10 am, or between 1 pm and 2 pm.
-Minimize risk by using “social distancing”. Greet people with your warm words, and consider reducing the amount of time you spend lingering for visits.
