For the first time in their three-year history as a W-C-B-L franchise, the Saskatoon Berries have won the East Division final and will play for the league championship.

The Berries parlayed a five-run third inning off veteran, ace Moose Jaw right-hander Westin Walls into a 7-4 victory over the Miller-Express and a two-game sweep of the best-of-three series Wednesday night. The win came before another record crowd at Cairns Field, as 2,467 fans crammed into Cairns Field – slightly over 100 more than were on hand a week earlier for the final regular-season game, also against Moose Jaw. Designated hitter Nick Stinson came up clutch with two doubles and three runs batted in while former Miller-Express, now Saskatoon left fielder Nathan Houston capped off the five-run third frame with a two-run single. Houston was with Moose Jaw back in 2024 when they defeated the Berries in the East Division final. Four Saskatoon pitchers combined to scatter eight hits while allowing four unearned runs, capped off by Wesley Shackelford’s two innings of perfect relief for the save. The Berries will face the Sylvan Lake Gulls in the best-of-three W-C-B-L final after Sylvan Lake knocked off Okotoks in two straight games in the West Division final. The Gulls won the second game Wednesday by a 9-8 score. Game 1 of the final goes Saturday in Sylvan Lake with Game 2 at Cairns Field on Sunday night at 7 o’clock.
