Pelican Narrows RCMP arrested three people after responding to a single vehicle collision on Highway #135, near Pelican Narrows.

The report came in on Monday around 5:25 pm. Officers managed to locate the vehicle in the ditch. No injuries were reported.

Officers saw a loaded handgun and open alcohol in the vehicle, and arrested the occupants of the vehicle.

As a result of investigation, 28-year-old Marcie Ballantyne, 28-year-old Newton Ballantyne and 21-year-old Safira Linklater, all from Pelican Narrows, have been charged with:

” one count, unsafe storage of firearm, Section 86(2), Criminal Code;
” one count, carrying concealed weapon, Section 90(1), Criminal Code;
” one count, possession of restricted firearm/prohibited weapon with ammo without license/registration, Section 95(1), Criminal Code;
” one count, careless use of a firearm, Section 86(1), Criminal Code;
” one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm, Section 91(1), Criminal Code;
” one count, possession of a firearm in motor vehicle, Section 94(1), Criminal Code;
” one count, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code;
” one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized, Section 92(1), Criminal Code; and
” one count, possession of a weapon obtained by crime, Section 96(1), Criminal Code.

Marcie Ballantyne has additionally been charged with:

” one count, operation while impaired of motor vehicle, Section 320.14(1)(a), Criminal Code;
” one count, dangerous operation of motor vehicle, Section 320.13(1), Criminal Code; and
” two counts, fail to comply with undertaking, Section 145(4)(a), Criminal Code.

Marcie Ballantyne was also arrested on a warrant from Sandy Bay RCMP for failing to attend court.

Marcie Ballantyne is scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court today (Thursday). Newton Ballantyne and Safira Linklater are scheduled to appear in court in Pelican Narrows on September 21.
