Work on the Rose Garden Hospice in Prince Albert is expected to get started this spring.
That’s according to the Chair of the Rose Garden Hospice Association, Marina Mitchell.
She says they’re currently just over the $2 million mark in their fundraising efforts. The goal is to reach four million dollars to cover the estimated construction costs.
Mitchell says if donations keep coming in the way they are, shovels will be in the ground within the next few months.
The province announced last year that it will support up to $2 million dollars annually for the operations at the hospice which Mitchell says will be enough funding to run the 10-bed facility, although they’ll host an annual fundraiser that will get the community involved.
The fundraising campaign got under in February of 2019. The new 10-bed hospice will be located on the corner of Marquis Road and 4th Avenue West.

Construction on Saskatchewan’s first free-standing hospice in Saskatoon started in May and is expected to open this fall on Hilliard Street.
