Saskatoon City Council will gather for a special meeting Thursday afternoon to discuss further measures that will help residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.
During a conference call late Wednesday afternoon, Mayor Charlie Clark said administration will be bringing forward a few proposals which include suspending any disconnections for water or electrical services until September 30th.
Clark added the plan is still to issue property tax notices in May and the proposal from City staff is to allow residents an additional three months to pay their property taxes without incurring any penalties.
Pamela Goulden-McLeod, Director of Emergency Management is calling on the provincial government to ban all public gatherings of any numbers.
She says what the City does over the next two days will determine the long-term outcomes for the City.
All City operated facilities including City Hall will be closing to the public starting Thursday morning.
