Premier Scott Moe has signed an order pursuant to the provincial State of Emergency stating that all orders of the government and the Chief Medical Health Officer must be followed. Law enforcement agencies now have the full authority to enforce those orders.
The Premier says he is particularly concerned about individuals returning from international travel and not following the 14 day self isolation policy. Moe says “this is not a suggestion or a guideline—it is the law and must be followed.”
New measures are also being introduced, including public gatherings of more than 25 people in one room are prohibited–unless a two metre distancing can be maintained.
Starting next Monday, restaurants, food courts and cafeterias will be closed . . . except for those with pick-up and two metres distancing between customers. Soup kitchens and non-profits will remain open, but must have two metre distancing.
Daycares will be limited to a maximum of eight children unless they can find ways to meet provincial guidelines. A full list of closures and mandatory self isolation rules can be found at this link.
