The Saskatchewan Government has announced that the emergency orders issued by the province will take precedence over locally issued State of Emergencies if there are any discrepancies.
On Friday, the City of Regina declared a local State of Emergency with different regulations than the one issued by the province.
Government Relations Minister, Lori Carr held a conference call Sunday afternoon saying that the province wants to ensure there are consistent orders across Saskatchewan.
“During this time of great uncertainty, it is of the utmost importance that we provide certainty to Saskatchewan residents and make every effort to minimize confusion.”
Carr says if a community does make a order, she requests that the town or city send it to the province so they can evaluate it.
If it contradicts the province’s order, the province will then cancel the order. Carr adds provincial officials will review Regina’s order first thing Monday morning.
The other community that has declared a State of Emergency is Gravelbourg.
