Co-op Refinery workers in Regina have voted 98 per cent in favour of a mediator’s recommendation on ending the labour dispute that has gone on since December. Unifor National President Jerry Dias says the only thing standing in the way of an agreement is the employer. He says Co-op is still demanding new concessions. Unifor says mediation resulted in eight recommendations including that workers contribute up to eight per cent to their pensions. Co-op has said that it is unable to accept all aspects of the report’s recommendations. Unifor is calling on the provincial government to force Co-op to accept the deal. Premier Scott Moe hopes that the 2 sides will work together and exhaust every option to come to an agreement. He says the government is also entertaining any options it may have to bring this dispute to a close.
