Saying, “It’s done,” Liberal Member of Parliament Pablo Rodriguez announced that overnight, the House of Commons adopted the emergency support that had been previously announced to fight COVID-19. On Twitter Rodriguez says, “We will work day and night so that Canadians receive as quickly as possible the help they critically need.”
Last week, The Prime Minister announced $27 billion in direct support to workers and businesses. There will be another $55 billion to meet liquidity needs, through tax deferrals, to help stabilize the Canadian economy. Combined, the $82 billion represents more than 3% of Canada’s GDP.
The bill now moves to the senate for approval.
