Unifor’s National President is urging the provincial government to introduce legislation that would end the dispute between the Co-op Refinery and Unifor Local 594.
A new offer was presented by Federated Co-operatives Limited, but Jerry Dias says the concessions go far beyond what the 2 mediators, Vince Ready and Amanda Rogers, proposed in their report.
Union members voted 98 per cent in favour of the compromises in the report, which includes contributing 8 per cent to their pensions as opposed to what they have now, which is employer contributions only.
Dias says FCL’s latest offer, which the company is calling a final offer, includes a significant reduction in the company’s pension responsibilities.
Today (Wed) is the 111th day of the lockout.
