The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is calling on the federal government to put a freeze on the carbon tax and other taxes. The CTF says tax relief must form a key part of economic rescue efforts.
Prime Minister Trudeau stated Monday that the carbon tax will proceed April 1st. He says the price on pollution is designed to put more money in the pockets of the middle class while protecting the planet.
The tax will increase from 4.4 cents per litre to 6.6 cents. The federation would also like Members of Parliament to donate their pay hike. It too is coming into effect April 1st.
