Canada’s First Ministers will connect with the Prime Minister, Thursday night by phone to talk about the pandemic facing the country. The PM says, the goal is simple: To keep people safe. He says all levels of government have been working together, and that collaboration will become even more important in the days ahead.
Trudeau also announced that a shipment of one million masks arrived in Hamilton, which will go to health care workers across the country.
The Prime Minister couldn’t give a timeline as to how long this problem will play out. He says there are just too many variables. He continues stressing to all Canadians the importance of social distancing, and leaving your home as little as possible.
Trudeau was asked about the possibility of using the Emergency Measures Act to try and stem the infection rate. He would only say that the provinces are doing what they believe is necessary to act and the federal government will continue to work with them.
