Many businesses are reeling from the effects of COVID-19 and cab companies and their drivers are among them.
People are staying home and some are nervous about transmission of the virus.
Mark Gill, co-owner of Captain Taxi, says drivers are nervous too.
That, along with fewer calls coming in, has meant drivers are choosing to stay home as well.
Gill estimates the number of Captain Taxi drivers is down by about 95 per cent, but they are still able to handle any requests for service because the numbers have dwindled so sharply.
The prevention actions from the cab service which just opened up last August include putting poly sheets between the 2 front seats, the drivers using masks and wearing gloves, and sanitizing before and after rides.
The results from a ridester.com survey say Uber drivers across the country have lost up to 90 per cent of their business in the last few weeks.
