The recent idea of “bubble” cities hosting N-B-A and N-H-L games in order to complete their suspended regular-seasons or an attempt at running playoffs has brought Saskatoon into the conversation.
While SaskTel Centre (pictured) is currently closed to the public because of the COVID-19 pandemic and can’t be opened unless the city says so, Executive Director Scott Ford says the building was approached about hosting neutral-site games before the N-H-L suspended their season on March 12…and would be welcome to being home to games once they get the green light to open their doors again. Ford says the building is sanitized and is ready to go when told they can open.
The next date on the SaskTel Centre calendar is the May 9 Z-Z Top concert. That means all three Saskatchewan Rush regular-season games in April have been scrubbed…along with a couple of concerts and a World Wrestling Entertainment Show. Potential Rush playoff dates in May are still being held and the Saskatchewan Rattlers’ home-opener is still set for May 14.
