The province is bringing in new measures for long term care facilities after an employee at an assisted living facility in Regina tested positive for COVID-19. The Saskatchewan Health Authority is adding temperature checks and symptom checks for staff when they arrive to work.
SHA Medical Health Officer in Regina, Dr. Maurice Hennink says there are no indications the virus spread to other employees or residents at the Eden Care facility. The individual was identified through a contact tracing process from another person that tested positive. Any residents or staff who were in close contact with this person are being isolated and will be monitored for the next 2 weeks.
There are now 220 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan, an increase of 14. There have been no deaths reported in the last day, so the total remains at 3. Twelve more people have recovered from the virus, bringing the provincial total to 48. There are 111 cases from the Saskatoon, 45 in Regina, 42 in the north, 10 from the south, 9 in the central region and 3 in the far north.
