Today is the holiest day of the year for the Sikh community…it’s Vaisakhi. The Prime Minister, in wishing them a joyful holiday, also noted that Canada is home to one of the largest Sikh populations in the world.

In this province, just prior to the long weekend, the Sikh Society of Saskatchewan launched their COVID-19 Food Support program. On their Facebook page they note that the program is intended for the most vulnerable and has been made possible by the generosity of donors in their community.

The program criteria includes seniors over 65 living at home with no support, individuals with disabilities with no support, single parents with young kids at home, sick or quarantined individuals who can’t go out for food and international students with no immediate support.
