The Traffic Safety Spotlight was on distracted driving in February after the new distracted driving laws came into effect on February 1st. There were 562 tickets handed out for cellphone use and 85 for driving without due care and attention.
The good news is that it is much lower than the average of approximately 900 a month when numbers were peaking in 2019.
There were 6,574 tickets issued for aggressive driving and speeding, 307 for impaired driving and 426 tickets for lack of proper restraints like seat belts, car seats or booster seats.
In April the Traffic Safety Spotlight is on speeding.
