Cameco announced this morning a $1 million COVID Relief Fund for Saskatoon and northern Saskatchewan.
The uranium mining giant says it want to address the challenges facing less fortunate and vulnerable people in the province.
Cameco’s CEO says the company is trying to do its part to help out the province in these extraordinary times.
Tim Gitzel says they will look at the applications by April 30th and can have the money available within a couple of days.
“Community organizations that are hurting, non-profits, social agencies, First Nations, really anybody who has been impacted by the COVID-19, which is everybody, if we can help you out a bit get on our website, make an application”.
Funds must be used to help with the challenges of COVID-19 and can be directed to ongoing program support, targeted COVID-19 community response or specialized programs.
The fund is not primarily to be used for staff salaries and the deadline for applications is midnight April 28th.
