Federal officials say more equipment is flowing to Canada.
At their daily briefing in Ottawa, public service and procurement minister Anita Anand says several chartered flights are coming in from China with needed gear, including N-95 masks.
“These flights are, of course, in addition to goods that arrive by other means. As of today, we have ordered just under 300-million surgical masks and approximately 145-million N-95 respirators. ‘
Anand also thanked “Conquer COVID-19” and Hayley Wickenheiser who have been running PPE drives and distributing equipment.
Deputy prime minister Chrystia Freeland says Canadians must stay the course on the coronavirus pandemic.
During the federal briefing in Ottawa, Freeland says people have been doing a good job social distancing, which has saved lives.
Meantime, there are now 29,826 cases in Canada with 1048 deaths. Close to 50% of the deaths linked to care homes, and 90% are in people 60 and older.
