A new case and a presumptive case of COVID-19 were part of Friday’s update by the province, the reported infections being found in Regina and the far north region of Saskatchewan.
The two cases reported today Friday bring the provincial total to 307, with 75 cases considered to be active and six of those in hospital. One hospital patient with the novel coronavirus is in Intensive Care.
Meanwhile, nine more people were updated to recovered in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of recoveries in the province to 228.
The regional breakdown shows 147 cases of COVID-19 in Saskatoon and area, 69 from the Regina area, 58 cases in the north, 15 from the south, 10 cases in the central region and eight from the far north.
The death toll from the virus in Saskatchewan remains at four people.
The number of cases attributed to health care workers went up by one Friday to 35, although the source of the infections may not be related to health care in all instances.
The gender split of the 307 cases of the virus remains at 52% male and 48% female.
The breakdown by demographic is 110 COVID-19 cases in the 20-39 age range, 105 in the 40-59 group, 62 cases are in the 60-79 age range, seven are in the 80-and-over group and 23 cases are in the 19-and-under age range.
As for the cause of the novel coronavirus in the province, 133 of the 307 cases are travel-related, 129 are contacts or linked to mass gatherings, 29 cases have no known exposures and 16 are under investigation by local public health.
Saskatchewan continues to have the second-highest rate of testing per capita among the provinces with 22,207 tests having been performed in the province.
