While the country wonders “why”, what the motivation was behind a tragic trail of violence in Nova Scotia on the weekend, the Prime Minister says the pandemic will prevent people from mourning together in person after the shooting rampage in Nova Scotia but a vigil will be held to celebrate the lives of the victims at 7 p.m. on Friday through the Facebook group Colchester Supporting Our Community.
Nova Scotia RCMP expect the death toll to rise in the aftermath of multiple fires and shootings by the suspected killer 51 year old Gabriel Wortman. The carnage stretched from Portapique to outside Halifax, almost a 100 kilometres and 12 hours of multiple fires and shootings. So far, 19 people, including Wortman, are dead.
Some homes and properties were burned to the ground and it hasn’t been safe for investigators to access the scene but several people remain unaccounted for. RCMP also say they have 16 crime scenes. Questions are also arising as to why the RCMP used Twitter to convey information about an active shooter instead of, or in addition to, using the provincial public alert system.
