Environment Canada says there is front that is criss-crossing the prairies and depending on which side of the front you are on, there are hugely different temperatures. Saskatoon reached a high of 20.9 degrees yesterday. Prince Albert had a daytime high of 8 degrees.
The hot spot was Yellow Grass at 25.5 degrees and the coldest temperature experienced in the previous 24 hours was in Collins Bay at -24.1.
Meteorologist Natalie Hazell says the forecast for Saskatoon is very seasonal and it will seem quite warm in light of Saskatoon having had well below seasonal for a lengthy period prior.
And for those areas with snow still on the ground, she says all that heat goes into melting the snow so it will take a little longer for residents in those areas to enjoy the warmth of the season.
Some other notable highs include Regina at 24.6, Moose Jaw’s mercury rose to 24.1 and Weyburn was 24.3 degrees.
In terms of disparity in temperatures, North Battleford was 20 degrees, Spiritwood reached 15, Yorkton was 16 for a day time high but Melfort only got to +6.1 and Nipawin was +5.4 degrees.
