The province held its first Subsurface Mineral Public Offering on Monday and raised about $1.7 million dollars. 81 subsurface mineral permit blocks were posted. Of those, 16 receive bonus bids. The highest offering received was $30 thousand from Sun Valley Land limited for a permit block located 18 km southwest of Estevan and is prospective for minerals such as lithium. As the appeal for lithium is increasing in the global market, the province has seen a significant interest in Saskatchewan’s lithium potential. The next scheduled subsurface minerals public offering is for December 14th.
