K + S Potash is partnering with Food Banks of Saskatchewan by matching every donation made to the organization’s COVID-19 Crisis Response Fund between April 27 and May 3rd, up to $50 thousand. Food Banks Executive Director Laurie O’Connor says, “All sorts of folks are finding themselves in uncharted territory, and food banks are there to help people make it through a very trying time.” 30 thousand people are served by food banks across the province every month.
K + S is also giving each employee $300 to donate to the organization of their choice. The mining company is also accelerating payments to it small, Saskatchewan vendors and suppliers, recognizing that the fallout from COVID-19 can hurt small, local businesses.
K+ S employs over four hundred people at its mine in Bethune, its headquarters in Saskatoon, and at a logistics office in Port Moody, BC.
