The Saskatoon Fire Department had to contend with a grass fire shortly after five o’clock Thursday afternoon. It was on private property south of Saskatoon, east of the Beaver Creek Conservation area. Fire engines, water tankers, brush trucks, a rescue unit, and support personnel were all called into service to deal with the fire. About three acres of land and miscellaneous items in the yard were ablaze. A power line was arcing and utility technicians were called out to shut down power to the area. At last word, around eight o’clock, crews were still there, fighting the flames.
