The Saskatchewan Teachers Federation is supporting teachers working through distance delivery, with a series of online learning sessions.
Weekly seminars are being released by the Saskatchewan Teacher’s Federation, with two sessions already completed to date.
Patrick Maze, President of the STF, says they aim to make sure teachers feel supported and can be the best for their students in the province. Maze suggests, in this situation different variables need to be attended to, they want to make sure teachers are comfortable with what they are doing and have their questions answered.
Initial expectations for the first session were around 50 teachers, the webinar ended up seeing nearly 500, looking for support.
The first webinar saw Dr. Alec Couros of the Center for Educational Research Corroboration and Development and well known Saskatchewan educator Dean Shareski providing their perspectives on these unprecedented times.
A second webinar was held on Thursday that dealt with teachers caring for student metal wellness and leadership support for school administrators.
Schools have been closed since March 20th, with many teachers returning to work on the 30th.
