The decision by the Saskatchewan Government to start a phased in reopening of the economy starting May 4th was a hot topic at the federal briefing in Ottawa on Friday.
Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia was asked if Saskatchewan’s re-opening plan was concerning. Her response was that, as a country, we should have shared principles and standards that help guide us all in knowing when and how to approach the restart of the economy.
Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam says there can’t be double standards. She says you can’t hold up certain areas as resuming activities while at the same time there is another jurisdiction that is still trying to get certain outbreaks under control.
There are now 42,750 COVID-19 cases in Canada, with 2,179 deaths, while 643 thousand people have been tested, with 6.5% positive.
