Cooking Fire
There was a cooking fire in the 400 block of Avenue X south this morning just after 9:30. One of the residents of the home had used multiple fire extinguishers in an effort to put the fire out but were not quite able to get it contained. Fire crews found light smoke on the main level of the house and flames coming from the oven, which were quickly extinguished. Everyone had managed to evacuate the house before the fire department arrived. Electric fans were used to ventilate thouse clearing it of smoke and carbon monoxide. Damage is estimated at $50,000 and the cause is ruled accidental.
Church Fire
A passerby called the Saskatoon Fire Department after spotting smoke coming from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on the 600 block of Taylor Street East around 6:40 this morning (mon). Crews located a fire in a storage room under the stairs leading to the basement. It was out within 10 minutes of arriving on scene. Traffic flow was restricted while crews went to work. Damage was limited to about $500. The cause is undetermined.
Arrests in North End Break-Ins
Saskatoon Police say they have made an arrest in connection to some business break ins from earlier this month. They occurred at a business on 45th Street East and on 50th Street East. A search warrant was executed April 22nd in the 28-hundred block of Rusholme Road. Police say there was items from both businesses in the home. A 39 year old man has been charged with Break and Enter and Breach of Probation.
One Suspect Still Wanted in Vehicle Break-Ins
Saskatoon Police are on the hunt for a second suspect wanted in connection to numerous incidents of break and enter and theft from vehicles at St. Paul’s Hospital. A 27 year old woman was arrested after police received a report of theft of a vehicle on April 23rd in the 17-hundred block of 20th Street West. Police allege the woman was in possession of identification documents that were taken in that April theft. Both the man and woman are facing charges of Break and Enter, Theft, and Fraud. 37 year old Clarence Bluecloud, the second suspect, is pictured here.
