Some height and inside presence is returning to the Saskatchewan Rattlers for the 2020 Canadian Elite Basketball League season.
6’11” centre Chad Posthumus has re-signed with the Snakes. The Winnipeg product averaged 5.2 points and 4.6 rebounds in 11.8 minutes of playing time over 18 games last season as Saskatchewan won the first-ever C-E-B-L title. Posthumus is a six-year pro who has played in the U-S, Japan, Argentina and elsewhere in Canada besides the Rattlers last year. Following is the news release from the Rattlers…..
Saskatchewan Rattlers Announce Re-Signing of Chad Posthumus Canadian Big-Man Returns to the Rattlers
Saskatoon, Sask. (Apr. 28, 2020) – The Saskatchewan Rattlers , member club of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), are excited to announce the return of Canadian center Chad Posthumus.
Posthumus, a Winnipeg, MB.-native has played professionally in the United States, Japan, Argentina and Canada. The 6-foot-11 center returns to the Rattlers after finishing the 2019 championship season averaging 5.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 11.8 minutes over the course of 18 games. Prior to joining the Rattlers, Posthumus had spent time with the Chicago Bulls Summer League team in 2014, Levanga Hokkaido (B.League – Japan), Mississauga Power (National Basketball League of Canada), Argentino de Junin (Liga Nacional de Bsquet – Argentina), London Lightning (NBLC), Island Storm (NBLC), Kagoshima Rebnise (B.League), Hitachi SunRockers Tokyo-Shibuya (B.League), Shinshu Brave Warriors (B.League) and the Halifax Hurricanes (NBLC). The well-journeyed veteran will bring considerable size and rebounding back to the Rattlers.
Prior to turning pro, Posthumus attended Morehead State University after transferring from the University of British Columbia and Howard College. In his final year at Morehead State, Posthumus averaged 9.6 points on 51% shooting along with 10.9 rebounds per game. His impressive work on the boards led to him having the second-highest total that season in the NCAA.
“We are happy to have Chad back with us again”, said Rattlers GM Barry Rawlyk. “Chad is a big body out on the court who can collect rebounds and plays strongly underneath the basket. Not only does he bring a large presence to the court, he is also a great asset to the community and is frequently involved in outreach events around the province.”
