Battlefords RCMP didn’t find any suspects when they arrived on scene at the report of a shooting at a local hotel located in the 1-thousand block of the Highway 16 overpass, but say they reviewed surveillance footage and determined that a person in a silver coloured car fired several shots at a white coloured SUV.
About an hour later, at 4 a.m., RCMP were called out to a gas station in the 900 block of the Highway 16 bypass to a report of a stabbing. They didn’t find anyone who had been stabbed but did find the white SUV that was shot at earlier in the morning. The driver was arrested for impaired driving. And around 6 in the morning, so three hours after all this started, RCMP received a report of a silver car parked on Trudeau Street with a man waving a gun around.
Police pursued the vehicle, it eventually lost control, drove over an embankment, and the two men inside took off on foot. One suspect was arrested right away and another was tracked by the RCMP Police Dog Section.
RCMP believe the gun being fired at the SUV has direct ties to drug trafficking and the three suspects involved are all in court Wednesday.
