The Saskatoon Fire Department says a fire in a garage in the 800 block of Avenue J South on Wednesday was accidental.

Saskatoon Police officers patrolling in the area, called in a report of smoke coming from a shed-like garage structure.

Utility technicians were called in to shut down the power due to an arcing power line over the building. Nobody was found to be inside and the fire didn’t extend beyond the structure.The cause of the fire has been identified improper use of a portable space heater. Damage has been estimated at approximately $15,000 to the building and its contents.
